Susan has worked with people in all different situations and stages of life, including:
Sometimes worrying is productive. Other times it's not.
Trauma can be difficult to fully heal. But progress is always possible.
We've all been so hopeless we don't want to get out of bed at some point.
Sometimes things hit us so hard we can end up beside ourselves.
We can't live without them. But sometimes we feel like we can't live with them.
Grieving is a process. Susan can help you through that process.
Parenting is hard! There's no perfect way, but an outside perspective helps.
Gritting teeth is one way to deal with it. Luckily there are others.
Knowing your own abilities and potential is absolutely crucial.
Susan has been in practice in Southern, Northern, and Coastal Oregon since 1995.
Susan studied Clinical Social Work at Portland State, and Psychology at Southern Oregon university, where she got her master's degree.
Susan has worked at seven professional counseling agencies, as well as maintaining a private practice at times, and currently only sees clients in her private practice.
And grandmother of two! When Susan isn't with her clients, she most cherishes time with family.
And yes, this website was made by her techie kids ;)
Susan applies several different therapy approaches with her clients. These are three of the big ones.
CBT focuses on the development of personal coping strategies that help with current problems and changing unhelpful patterns in thoughts, behaviors, and emotional regulation.
DBT works towards helping people increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and assessing which coping skills to apply.
Play therapy gives children a way to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process.
You can talk to Susan on the phone in order for you to both gauge whether you would work well together, and there's no charge for that. Send her an email or a text if you'd like to have an intro conversation.
